About Us

Constructive Progressive Learning (CPL) Seminars and Workshops Inc. brings EXPERTISE to the civil and commercial construction workplace.

THE NEED
  1. In this day and age, bridging the generation gap is what this industry needs most.
  2. Ideally the industry will recognize the programs designed by experienced retired construction Superintendents and Managers.
  3. A fast and efficient training system is required to nail down the essentials of technical knowledge and most importantly, the people skills that at one time were learned through experience.
  4. It is the mentoring aspect that needs to take a different form; the rationale behind decision making needs to be addressed differently; interpersonal skills need to be refined; attitude training that will pull people from the conditioning they received is much needed; belief structures need to be looked at and understood; leadership needs to have a different content; the safety regime needs to be altered to recognize and incorporate a worker's intelligence to work safely; there needs to be a culture change that will fit the young generation's innovative ways of doing things; the relationships between the older members and the younger members of this industry need to merge in more efficient ways.

THE PROGRAM

For the most part, the technical knowledge aspects of construction are fairly well covered through the industry's training programs. Nevertheless, specialized trade work can use some help to improve their domains as well.

CPL Seminars and Workshops addresses the needs listed above.

CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE
SHORT BIOGRAPHY AND PROFILE

I began my construction career at age 17 as a surveyor's helper/rod-man/chainman. At age 19, I was labor foreman and at age 21, I successfully performed my first project as a superintendent. I retired in February 2009 after 46 years of extensive superintendent experience on civil and commercial projects.

My retirement activities for the past two and a half years have been to continue my self-education and research in human behavior. This is my plan for achieving my life's purpose which is to enjoy being of service to others until I die.

Teaching what I have learned fulfills my purpose and truly is be the best work of my life. It is clear to me that the construction industry is where I am the most comfortable and productive and this is where I have decided to focus my energy while continuing to enjoy life in the workplace.
